His passion for sport and innovation identified Lifelike Replicas as an opportunity for clubs to engage with fans and create revenue streams they had never considered.
Chris has an Economics degree from Edinburgh and an MBA from the Open University.
With extensive character design experience and a considerable materials technology background, Mike has created some of the most memorable Prosthetic Makeups for many popular TV series, from the original Ant & Dec’s ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ to the long running Irish celebrity ‘undercover’ Series ‘Anonymous’ as well as many other well-known productions over his last 17 years in the Special Makeup Effects business…
In other media areas, key character work on the Opening Ceremony of the ‘Athens 2004 Olympics’ was particularly iconic as well as a variety of other large movie productions internationally, starting with the Lord of the Rings and progressing on to extensive makeup effects work in Bollywood with some of the biggest stars in their movie business. Most notable recent character creations can be seen for the lead villain in the new Mad Max Movie, ‘Fury Road’.
The specialised Silicone used for all Lifelike Replicas work was designed by Mike for it’s ability to look, act and feel like real skin. It is the only material of its kind in the World and was first used for prosthetic work in the Lord of the Rings Movies ‘The Two Towers’ and ‘The Return of the King’.
As a business partner with Mike Stringer for over 20 years in the Makeup Effects business, Mike Bates would handle initial production meetings as well as script and budget breakdowns, supervise crews and manage a range of clients within the business.
As a former VP and Director of Equities for a leading Global Investment Bank he also brings his strong Business and Management skills to Lifelike.
